Every Sonjaie piece is a bridge — between craft and memory, between goddess and woman —

a way to carry blessings in form, not ritual.

Sonjaie is not just a jewelry brand—it is a story woven in metal, design and memory.

Inspired by the blessings of Goddess Sonjai, whose temple stands tall in the rolling hills of Wai, Maharashtra, Sonjaie carries within its name the word "Aai" paying homage to my mother who gifted me the talent of design.

Every piece aims to reflect the spirit of Maharashtra – its rich traditions, its spirit and culture.
Crafted in brass and dipped in gold, its a semi-fine jewelry brand that bridges heritage & contemporary design.

Sonjaie is for the woman who is bold yet rooted, modern yet mindful, unapologetically herself.
With Sonjaie, tradition doesn't stay locked in the past. It becomes alive, radiant, and wearable today.

Sonjaie is born of tradition when its reimagined !

About Uma Ramalingam

My name is Uma (Sawant) Ramalingam, now a
jewelry designer but always a dreamer, and an artist at heart.

I was born in a traditional Maharashtrian
household but raised in Mumbai, my early life shaped by the sharp contrast of a
convent education and Marathi ethos. Since childhood I was drawn to sketching
and admiring all things beautiful and that led me to explore artistic pursuits
which my humble household could permit. But adulthood beckoned and in the next
27years saw me build a successful career at a MNC bank while juggling
motherhood and family duties.

Yet, beneath the structured world of numbers in
banking and the usual chaos of life, I nurtured a lifelong passion for jewelry.
I wanted to sketch and bring to life designs that would mirror my inner thought
space.

Being someone who admires and is proud of her
heritage, I tinkered with the thought of reimagining traditional jewels of
Maharashtra for today’s modern woman. I dreamt of a jewelry line which is
simple, rooted in my beliefs but fashioned for today.

That dream has now taken form as Sonjaie,
my semi-fine jewelry brand. With Sonjaie, I bring together the grace of
tradition and the ease of modern design, so every piece carries a story, a
spark, and a touch of the divine.

Each creation is not just to be worn, but to be
felt—an expression of who you are, and who you aspire to be.
